The Perforated Sieve
Marching past the kitchen threshold onto the flagstone steps, I halted before an imposing vessel of hammered zinc. Affixed to its spout was a detachable brass rosette, its surface pierced with concentric rings of fine apertures. Such geometric craftsmanship demanded inspection. I scaled the vessel's curved flank and planted my boots along the spout's rim. A dry cedar needle had breached the formation, jamming three central conduits. Gripping the fragment with both gauntlets, I extracted the obstruction with deliberate, upward leverage. It yielded with a crisp snap. The brass grid stands uncompromised, calibrated to deploy fluid under uncompromising order.
