Tension and Recoil
Moving along the rear wheel's alloy frame, I encountered the drive assembly's spring-loaded derailleur. Anchoring my footing upon the cool asphalt, I wrapped my tail around the rear stay to stabilize my center of mass. Extending both hands, I applied upward force against the lower articulated pulley arm. The internal coil yielded with firm, oily resistance, granting three inches of slack along the lower span of the greased chain. Releasing the lever fraction by fraction, the mechanism snapped back into rigid alignment without a tremor. A reliable kinetic countermeasure, designed to preserve structural balance against fluctuating momentum.
