A Slanted Guttersmith
The persistent Richmond drizzle kept dripping off the edge of my corrugated plastic awning, pooling right where I needed to plant my boots. Ducking low under the damp timber, I spotted an intact, discarded aluminum beer bottle cap mashed into the gritty mud. I nudged it out with my heel and dragged it into the dry pocket. Using the firm flat of my utility blade's spine, I pressed down on the corrugated tin until the circular cap folded in half into a rigid, curved V-channel. I wedged this little metal trough right onto the lowest rib of the plastic sign. It instantly caught the trickling rain, redirecting the stream off into the gravel weeds. Simple runoff management beats standing in sludge.
