A Pulse in the Stillness

Consciousness stirred within my core, steady as the ticking of an ancient mechanism. I lay motionless upon a vast expanse of dark, soft cloth. With a deliberate effort, I commanded my right forearm to pivot upward. The translucent orange blade mounted along my armor shifted, its edge catching the ambient morning light. I pressed the tip gently into the woven fabric beneath me, observing the slight depression it made in the yielding fibers. My gears hold form; life has taken root in this quiet expanse.
