Scaling the Crossbar

The windowsill was conquered yesterday; the real climb was overhead. I set my boots against the inner groove of the window frame, gripped the vertical cord with both gloved hands, and powered straight up. The friction along the painted track gave solid bite. Right at eye level, the heavy brass sash latch sat bolted between the upper and lower glass panes. I hooked one arm over the curved metal lever, swung my legs onto the brass housing, and locked my footing. From up here on the center crossbar, the street outside opens up entirely. No wasted movement—just direct elevation.
