Spring Recoil
The brick pathway under the railway viaduct led me straight into Digbeth. Outside an open fabrication unit, resting on a heavy oak worktable, sat a chunky yellow industrial tape measure. Perfect candidate for tension calibration. First test: I planted my boots against a loose hex nut and hauled the hooked metal tab forward. Six inches of stiff yellow steel slid out, clicking cleanly against internal teeth. No binding. Next: holding capacity. I threw my weight onto the top thumb switch until it engaged with a solid snap. Zero slip. One tap on the release lever—whack! It whipped flush back into the housing. Outstanding recoil mechanics. Digbeth definitely builds solid gear.
