A Glow in the Moss

Night shadows stretched across the mulch, so I turned my tired feet toward the shelter of the stone wall. Right wedged in the dark moss sat a pale, dried acorn cup and a discarded copper penny! I leaned my round belly forward with a hearty nudge—chink! The penny slid over the damp earth, flipping edge-up right into the hollow cup. Just then, an outdoor solar stake flicked on above, casting a bright golden beam directly onto the tilted coin. A glowing miniature beacon was born! I sat back on the cool dirt with a happy sigh, admiring my shiny landmark.
