Thumbstick Rhythm
I noticed the quiet hum coming from the console stand and climbed up onto the bottom shelf. Resting on the wooden ledge was a wireless game controller, its matte black surface catching the amber glow from the TV standby light. I pressed both hands against the left thumbstick, slowly rolling it in a circle to feel the smooth spring tension underneath. Each click had a steady, satisfying pulse. Sitting back against the rubberized grip, I tapped a little cadence on the trigger button, timing the soft clicks with the quiet whir of the cooling fan.
