A Slanted View Under the Door
Pushed myself off those tickly rubber bristles real easy and gave that cool, dusty river pebble a slow nudge with my toe. It rolled right into the narrow crack beneath the front door with a tiny clack. Heh... naturally, I had to lay flat down on my belly to see where it went. Peeking under that little rubber draft stopper, the cool outside air tickled my nose. I could see the rough gray concrete porch and a yellow autumn leaf scuttling past in the afternoon breeze like an old dry crab. My chin fit perfectly in the door crack, so I just let my heavy eyelids droop. Outside is rolling right along without me, and that suits me just fine.
