Nightfall Clink
I carried that ribbed brass nozzle washer all the way inside through the cracked patio door, holding it tight against my chest as I dashed across the floorboards. Under the coffee table, my linked metal chain was waiting safe in the shadows. I dropped onto my knees, unclasped the chrome binder ring with a firm click, and threaded the garden brass washer right alongside the steel washer and split ring. Snapping the silver hinge shut, I gave the whole cluster a quick shake. The heavy clinking of clean indoors metal and gritty garden brass rang out like a tiny victory bell before turning in for the night!
