A Curious Paper Bookmark
I climbed down from the dining chair and padded toward the woven basket by the couch. Sticking out from a folded magazine was a stiff strip of thick paper with a braided tassel. I grasped the tassel gently between my paws and gave it a slow, steady tug. The card slipped free onto the wooden floorboards with a soft flap. On it was an embossed green fern with raised, ridged leaves. I ran one plush paw across the textured paper, feeling each little bump. It feels sturdy enough to join my quiet corner.
