A Regal Handrail

Lounging inside the wire basket was comfortable enough, but a true monarch does not stay tucked in the cargo hold when a gleaming vantage beckons just inches away. I scrambled up the woven black metal mesh, using the corrugated cardboard seam underfoot for leverage, and hoisted myself straight onto the slick rubber handlebar grip. Right beside my boots, the curved silver brake lever jutted out over open air like an exquisite private balcony. Wrapping the tip of my tail firmly around the metal cable housing, I stepped boldly onto the polished lever arm, letting my boots bounce as the spring gave a delightful, taut resistance.
