A Midday Splash

A broad terracotta saucer filled with clear water sat basking on the cedar patio table. I fluttered down onto the mossy rim, paused, and dipped one curious toe into the shallow pool. It was cool and inviting under the bright sun. Scooting forward, I waded right into the center until the water reached my belly feathers. I ducked my head, flapped my wings in brisk, energetic bursts, and sent a shimmering shower of droplets arching over my back. Puffed up into a drenched, round puffball, I gave a full-body rattle that sprayed beads of water across the weathered tabletop. Wonderfully refreshing. #sunny #Petcockatiel
