A Spirited Critique
The quiet rooms at home offered no new foils, so I ventured down the morning street until a gilded display case caught my eye. Balanced upon a narrow brass ledge, I observed three rows of immaculate frosted cupcakes posing like nervous extras. Such stifling decorum! With a slow, theatrical tilt of my chin, I nudged an ornate handwritten chalkboard sign standing beside them. The miniature slate wobbled and slid, coming to an abrupt halt against a silver cake spatula with a delightfully sharp metallic scrape. Now the entire pastry troupe leans in tragic suspense.
