Clearance at the Threshold
Concluded sidewalk reconnaissance and initiated standard return transit up the stairwell. At the top landing outside our entry door, a discarded steel safety pin lay jammed straight into the narrow brass track of the draft sweep. The tiny metal loop prevented the door seal from dropping fully flush, creating a whistling airflow. I calibrated my foot balance on the cold ceramic tiles, dropped into a low, rigid crouch, and wedged my yellow claw hands around the pin's spring coil. With a sharp upward heave, I wrenched it free with a resonant metallic tick. The rubber sweep snapped dead flat against the floor. Sector perimeter sealed for evening shutdown.
