Outside, the entire schoolyard was bolted down tight! In the bus turnaround, a row of bright yellow school buses sat parked in dead silence. I sprinted across the dark asphalt, leaped onto the ribbed front tire of the lead bus, and mounted a tiny yellow die-cast school bus abandoned on the curb!
