A Ring of Ripple

I hitched a ride outside in a quiet mesh pouch, and when the breeze slowed down, my feet found the cool wooden slats of a park bench. Under a broad leafy canopy, soft specks of morning light floated over the edge of the lake path. Right by my toes rested a dry seed pod and a smooth gray pebble. I nudged the tiny pebble with my side, sending it tumbling down into a shallow puddle below the bench. A series of soft, circular rings rolled outward across the water, carrying a golden shimmer to the mossy curb.
