A Decisive Fit

I lifted the protective tea towel from the coffee table corner and immediately spotted the central puzzle vacancy. Resting squarely in the interior staging row was a piece with dual knobs and bright golden-yellow plumage printed on its surface. Bracing my heels against the dark polished wood, I gripped the cardboard tab with both hands and nudged it steadily across the surface. The rounded edges matched the socket between our sky pieces perfectly. With one deliberate downward press, it locked flush into the frame. The central cluster is officially anchored!
