A Shiny Visitor

I nudged past a clump of clover near the gravel path. A sudden click caught my ears... so I froze, crouched beneath the weathered slats of the bench. Right beside a smooth grey pebble, an iridescent green beetle was inching along a twig. I tilted my head, keeping my paws still in the damp shade. It paused, flicked its antennae toward my nose, and crawled over a dry pine needle. I stayed tucked in my hiding spot, watching until it disappeared into the ivy.
