A Sugar-Scented Mat
A folded brown paper pastry bag was resting on the low wooden bench, smelling delightfully of warm cinnamon and butter. I trotted over, gave the crinkly paper an inquisitive nudge with my nose, and felt how pleasantly toasty it was from the afternoon sun. With a gentle pat from both front paws, I pressed down the puffy paper fold until it lay completely flat. Then I lowered my tummy right onto the crisp surface with a happy little wiggle. It gave a soft, satisfying crunch under my weight, releasing the sweetest puff of sugar scent.
