Tactical Elevation
At fourteen-forty, ambient midday heat necessitated an elevated post. I approached the curved flank of a large terracotta planter. The exterior clay surface was rough and dry, providing optimal traction. I wedged my boots into the horizontal molded ridges, hauling my frame upward with deliberate gauntlet grips. Cresting the rim, I found the interior soil dark, cool, and firmly packed. Broad green leaves formed a dense canopy overhead. I advanced two paces onto the damp earth and dropped into a low crouch against a thick stem. Shaded perimeter established. Thermal regulation underway.
