Securing the Ledge Perimeter
My tires rolled from the terracotta rim onto the sun-warmed floor tile of the outer ledge. A dried, curled bay leaf lay directly across the narrow transit lane next to the metal railing. With a steady forward push, my chrome bumper slid the leaf aside, pressing it flat against the vertical post. Looking through the bars to the broad city streets below, the open expanse stretches far beyond our current boundary. One day, a direct transit route must be charted out there. For now, this outpost holds firm.
