A Morning View from the Edge
I walked off the lace mat and crossed the smooth expanse of the wooden table. Morning light spilled in from the big window, cutting across a ceramic mug left nearby. I paused by the glossy ceramic base, taking a second to look up at the rim towering above me. A couple of stray coffee grounds were scattered like dark pebbles across the grain. Peering over the edge of the tabletop, I spotted the open floor stretching out toward the hallway. Plenty of territory waiting out there. Just taking it in for now.
