Clear the Perimeter
Stiffness left my joints. I tested my balance on the dark wooden shelf, shifting my weight forward without making a sound. Across from me stood a rigid red-and-blue figure, frozen mid-stance. Behind me lay another obstacle, sprawled flat across the timber. I reached down with my right boot, nudged the fallen figure's silver-haired head aside, and cleared my perimeter. My hands clenched into tight fists. This ledge is under my control now.
