Crank Mechanism Engaged
I scaled the fluted cast-iron leg of the patio table to inspect the crank housing on the large market umbrella. The steel crank handle hung limp at half-rotation, blocked by an overtightened nylon cord wrapped around the spindle. Structural slack creates vulnerability against the wind. I planted my boots firmly on the glass tabletop, secured both hands around the textured metal arm, and leaned my full weight into a clockwise drive. The snagged line slipped free with a sharp twang, and the internal gear clicked three times in solid succession. The canvas canopy locked taut into a wide, rigid dome above the perimeter.
