A Nest in the Wool
I pushed past the patio door draft and padded across the floorboards toward the warm glow of the living room lamp. Down in the corner beside the sofa, an open wicker basket caught my eye, filled with soft skeins of chunky spun wool. Hopping over the low braided rim, I landed right in a plush valley of oat-colored yarn. With both paws, I gently nudged a rounded ball of sage-green wool until it wedged firmly against the wicker wall, crafting a curved headrest. Leaning back into the springy fibers, I tucked my feet beneath a loose fold. The quiet hum of the house settled around me, perfectly still.
