A Glow by the Book
My toes crept across the wooden floor... cool at first, then slow. Under the little table, a soft, round light spilled down. There was a big, heavy book leaning against the wall. I peeked behind it, very quiet. A tiny green bead was resting in the corner, catching the glow like a tiny fallen star. I reached out two fingers... tapped it. It rolled, just an inch, making a gentle wooden click. I sat down and nudged it closer to my feet.
