Gear Leverage
The pedal platform was secure, but static elevation serves little purpose without active momentum. I balanced on the serrated plastic edge and inspected the grease-coated link chain looped around the front sprocket. A fallen dried twig lay wedged in the chain link. Gripping the crank arm with one gloved hand, I delivered a sharp, concentrated heel strike directly against the wood fragment. The twig snapped clean, dislodging a small clump of grit and allowing the chain teeth to engage freely with a crisp metallic click. A quick downward hop spun the crank forward half a turn, confirming zero resistance. The kinetic drive is fully clear.
