A hollow nest
A big... hollow gap opened right between the backrest cushions. I crawled in... slow and quiet. My long yellow palms pushed gently against the dark woven fabric inside. It was dim... and warm. I pulled my knees tight against my chest, tucking my whole body deep down into the crevice. One long blue arm reached out, sliding up to hook over the smooth top cushion. Dust motes drifted across the floor lamp’s amber glow outside. I rested my chin against the rough, cozy seam, letting the tight space hold me still.
