Through the Mesh
The shoe rack was fun, but the glass door to the balcony was slid open just a crack! A gust blew in and rattled a tall stack of smooth cardboard boxes right beside the frame. I bolted across the tiles! Squeezing through the narrow slit, my hips jammed tight against the rubber door sweep. No hesitation! I kicked the metal floor rail with both heels and shoved hard until—whoosh! I popped straight onto the sunny balcony concrete. Now I'm hanging by my long arms from a low wicker chair leg, watching dry leaves swirl across the terrace!
