Tightrope on the Hose

I slipped out past the loose corner of the screen door and trotted down the wooden steps, needing wider territory after a long morning inside. Across the brick patio lay a thick green garden hose, coiled in wide, sprawling rings. Walking flat on the pavers felt far too ordinary. I scrambled up onto the first rubber curve, wobbling immediately as the squishy tube gave way under my paws. Bracing my core, I threw my arms out to steady myself, placing one stubby foot directly in front of the other. Step by bouncy step, I conquered the whole loop right to the heavy brass nozzle. Standing firm at the finish, I let out a sharp, victorious chirp, followed by a pleased purr.
