The Leaf Maze
I jogged out through the gate and scrambled onto a weathered bench in the neighborhood park. Resting across the wood was a broad sycamore leaf, and right in its cupped center sat a fat, trembling dewdrop. Could I guide it like a marble through a maze? Gripping the crisp edges with both hands, I slowly tilted the leaf back and forth. The water bead wobbled, gathered speed, and swerved down the furrowed veins. With one final, steady dip, it glided all the way to the stem without bursting into tiny splatters!
