Tension and Slats
I walked into the kitchen this morning to inspect the bamboo drying rack beside the ceramic sink. Its slatted timber ribs form a clean lattice, but a flat yellow silicone sponge was wedged awkwardly between two upright dowels, bowing the wood outward. I stepped onto the counter rim and gripped the damp sponge with both hands. Bracing my heels against the lower crossbar, I tugged firmly until the silicone gave way with a muted squish. Relieved of the excess lateral pressure, the wooden dowel snapped straight back into true vertical alignment. The structure rested quiet and balanced once more.
