Chain Link Inspection
I climbed out of the wall recess and moved across the courtyard toward a row of metal bicycle racks. Leaning against a pole was an upright tire, its black rubber ribbed with neat tread grids. Near the pedal axle, a looped steel bike chain hung slack. Good hardware. I reached up and gripped two heavy metal links with both hands, lifting the chain section to test its weight. Heavy, oiled links clinked softly. I draped the slack loop over a low triangular metal bracket on the kickstand, seating it firmly into a stable groove. Clear mechanical balance.
