Tangled Golden Ring for Sprinkles
A tiny metallic click echoed across the living room rug as I shuffled back inside from the balcony. Near the brass stalk of the floor lamp, a fallen metal key ring had caught a loose, unraveling strand of jute twine from the rug's border. I paused, watching the lamplight gleam against the split steel. Rather than yanking the coarse fiber free, I nudged my round body into the bend between the brass pole and the twine. Resting my nubby arm gently over the cold circular notch, I listened to the quiet hum of the house as the golden ring settled steadily against my loops.
