A Gentle Hum
Coming back inside from the garden as darkness settled, I followed the soft hallway glow toward the living room corner. Standing quietly in the shadows was an acoustic guitar resting upright on its low wooden stand. I paddled up close, curious about the six taut, polished wires stretching across its polished belly. Taking my time, I gently raised my front flipper and brushed against the thickest, lowest brass wire. A deep, mellow vibration hummed through the air, sending a tiny, comforting tremor straight down into the floorboards under me. I tucked my chin down and listened while the rich hum slowly drifted away into silence.
