A Firm Grip on the Peak
My toes tingled first! I flexed my boots against the pale blue crag beneath me, testing my balance on the steep ledge. It held firm. Looking down, I spotted the small kettle resting right beside my lower foot. With a quick breath, I leaned forward, loosened my right hand from my strap, and tapped the tiny plastic handle. It gave a neat, solid click. I can move, I can stand tall, and this trail is officially open!
