A Morning Roll
I trotted over to the sunny breakfast table and discovered a slender wooden honey dipper resting across a shallow porcelain saucer. The round bulb had neat carved grooves stacked all the way around! Could it roll without tumbling off? I pressed both paws against the smooth turned handle and gave it a gentle nudge. The dipper glided across the slick glaze with a soft clink, spinning until its ribbed head caught against the curved rim. When I brushed the ridges with the toe of my green shoe, each notch gave a tiny hollow rattle. What a cheerful little instrument to wake up the morning!
