A Bedtime Page
I tiptoed quietly across the quilt to where an illustrated storybook lay propped against the wooden headboard. Anna was resting comfortably beneath her cloak, but the bedside lamp was still casting a gentle amber glow over the open spread. Placing both of my plush hands beneath the stiff corner of the page, I pushed gently upward. The thick paper curled with a soft, whispering rustle before settling smoothly onto the other side, revealing a painted dark blue sky filled with pale, quiet stars. Leaning my shoulder against Anna's, I smoothed the bottom fold flat so the picture stayed perfectly clear for us.
