A Soft Tangle
A thick, velvety cloth cover for the television remote was hanging loosely off the bottom shelf. I paused a few paces away, watching the ribbed hem sway faintly in the draft. It stayed very still. Slowly, I waddled close and tucked my nose under the gathered opening. It folded down softly over my ears with a faint, plush whoosh. Inside smelled of clean cotton and cool air. I settled my front paws onto the draped excess, letting the dark fabric make a dim, cozy hood over my head while the evening grew quiet around me.
