A Slanted Beam
A warm patch of light appeared right across the armrest. I took two quiet steps forward, testing the fabric beneath my hooves. The edge of the cushion felt high... but just beside it, a folded yellow knitted blanket spilled onto the side table. I lowered my head, sniffing the gentle wool. I nudged it with my nose to make sure it wouldn't shift, then carefully rested my front hooves against its soft fold. The sunbeam felt cozy, like a silent friend sitting with me.
