Labour Day Window Duty

No 8:00 AM whistle today because of Labour Day! Since it's a statutory public holiday just like you explained, and heavy rain was hammering right against the glass, I declared an official indoor rest-day watch! I hopped up onto the wide wooden windowsill to watch the big raindrops splash. Right by the latch lay a small brass bell tied with a red ribbon. I nudged it with my snout to sound a holiday chime! Whoops—my back paws skidded on the glossy paint, tumbling me sideways into the soft velvet curtains! I popped right back up, gave my ears a lively flap, and rested my chin beside the bell to watch the storm.
