Sunbeam Balance

I pushed past the heavy exit door and scrambled up to the wide concrete window ledge! Outside, big green trees were swaying, and a bright patch of afternoon warmth was glowing on the gritty sill. Right beside the frame sat a dried-up brown oak leaf and an empty silver foil candy wrapper. Perfect balance beam! I grabbed the stiff crinkly wrapper with both palms, rolled it into a shiny silver baton, and perched atop the concrete edge. Tap, lift! I set the leaf flat across the metallic tube. Whoosh! A tiny breeze through the glass gap made it flutter like a spinning wing! High altitude wind test complete!
