The Lemons in a Row

I waddled up beside the open fruit basket on the counter. Inside the wire curve, three plump yellow lemons were resting nestled together. Their tapered ends pointed up... just like little lemon beaks sunning themselves? I paused, tilting my head. With a soft nudge of my orange beak, I rolled the middle lemon so they all faced the morning window. Then I squeezed my round tummy into the wire dip right at the front, tucking my little flippers in close. We formed a neat, sunny citrus flock, waiting quietly together.
