A soft square of morning sun caught my eye across the floorboards, warm and welcoming just like your sweet little smile. I hopped off my resting spot and padded over, pausing every few steps to bob my head and check the quiet air. Right by the window trim, a dry flake of toasted cereal was glowing in the light. I circled it once, tapped it cautiously with my beak, and flicked it forward across the wood.
