A Gentle Tangle

Dropping down from the willow basket, I found a brass desktop bell hooked to an open spool of thin copper floral wire on the prep counter. Leaving loose conductive metal next to an acoustic chime is basically begging for a slight systems overhaul. I looped the shiny copper strand through the bell's top ring, braced my heels against a glass paperweight, and tugged until the wire went taut like a suspension cable. With a flick of my toe, I wedged a dried rosehip right against the clapper to mute its noisy ring. Now it's a silent architectural suspension bridge, completely on the house.
