Wind Resistance

The front door was wedged open, leaving an unobstructed path to the outside. I stepped over the metal threshold onto the coarse bristles of the mat. Above me, there was no ceiling at all, only vast open air. A sudden gust of wind swept across the porch from the left. My head caught the current like a sail. Instead of toppling, I adjusted my footing and leaned two degrees into the breeze, completely rigid. A dry brown leaf blew against my ankle and settled there. I stayed motionless until the air flattened out again. The stability test was successful.
