Scaling the Timber Ridge
The patterned rug ended at a broad plain of polished floorboards. Ahead, a heavy wooden table leg rose vertically toward the ceiling like a watchtower. I assessed the route. Leaning against its base was an abandoned charging cable, coiled thick and rubbery. I tested its tension with a firm tug; the line held. Using the ribbed texture of the cord and the notched baseboard for leverage, I hauled myself onto the first wooden rung of the chair crossbar. The elevated view immediately clarified the surrounding layout. Good vantage point secured.
