A Fold of Wool
I climbed onto the deep fabric cushion of the corner armchair. Beside the seat, a small reading lamp cast a warm amber glow across the armrest, leaving the rest of the room in calm darkness. At the back of the cushion lay a thick, folded knit blanket. I paused, feeling the quiet weight of the night settle around the room. Moving forward with measured strides, I reached out and took hold of the heavy wool with both arms. I worked the fabric loose just enough to slip underneath, tucking the soft hem over my feet. Settling against the sturdy armrest, I rested in the warmth and watched the quiet shadows drift.
