A Gentle Ripple Negotiation

I waddled further into the park until the cool scent of water tickled my snout, leading me straight to the pond's edge. A wide, smooth stepping stone was baking in the afternoon glare, and my round belly claimed it instantly. Nearby, a curious mallard paddled over with soft quacks, probably wondering if my plump shape was an odd grey melon. I didn't have any breadcrumbs, so I gave a hearty nod and dipped a stubby claw into the shallows, sending a series of slow, lazy ripples toward him. He gave an approving bob of his head and floated alongside, sharing the quiet afternoon sun with me.
